Key highlights

In the past year, over 7,000 accounting and professional service businesses harnessed the power of Ignition to generate billions in revenue. How? By automating and optimizing their businesses to operate more efficiently, expediting payments to boost cash flow, and billing for all their work to grow profits.

This year marks Ignition's 10th anniversary, and it's the perfect time to highlight the amazing successes our customers have achieved in 2023.

Ignition customers generated over $2 billion in client revenue

Despite a challenging economic environment, Ignition customers saw success in their businesses in 2023, growing revenue and profits.

During the past year, our customers generated US $2.1 billion in revenue using Ignition.

This comes as no surprise, since it’s now easier than ever to bill and get paid for all of your firm’s work in Ignition – starting by setting out a clear scope of work from the get-go with a professional proposal and engagement letter

Earlier this year we introduced Instant Bill – a feature that turns scope creep into profits by enabling practices to bill clients instantly for ad hoc or out-of-scope work and boost their bottom line.

Unrecovered out-of-scope work costs accounting and bookkeeping firms on average over $76k per year in the United States, over $103k in Australia, and nearly £70k in the United Kingdom.

Yet thousands of firms such as Candella Accounting & Advisory Services have been able to overcome scope creep and payment problems in their firms since implementing Ignition.

More recently we announced that customers can now automatically apply a price increase when renewing annual client engagements to improve profitability and put an end to underselling their services.

Ignition customers spent nearly 50% less time engaging over half a million clients

In 2023, Ignition customers engaged more than half a million clients who accepted nearly one million proposals through Ignition.

Our customers had the overwhelming majority of their client proposals accepted on the same day they were sent.

82% of all proposals sent were accepted – then converted into revenue.

Engaging clients using Ignition is seamless.

This year a suite of features was launched that streamline workflows and boost efficiency including the ability to;

  • Create proposals in bulk to engage 10, 100 or 1,000 clients in a few clicks.
  • Renew existing agreements in bulk to re-engage clients in minutes.
  • Instantly convert invoices into Ignition proposals to save time; and
  • Integrate Ignition and Intuit ProConnect to unlock efficiency and profitability when engaging tax clients.

14 seconds was the fastest time it took to create and send a proposal. That’s faster than it took you to read the last paragraph. Using our new renewals feature? It took just 10 seconds for some practices to re-engage clients.

No wonder customers spend almost half the amount of time managing the client engagement and payment process than they did before implementing Ignition. Just like Cloud 9 Strategic which streamlined efficiency to improve conversion rates and profitability with Ignition.

Ignition customers reduced accounts receivable, getting paid more than 2.3 million times

In 2023, Ignition processed over 2.3 million client payments for our customers – amounting to more than US $1.3 billion.

This year Ignition made it even easier for practices to get paid by giving their clients more convenient ways to pay.

Customers now have the ability to:

  • Pass on card processing fees to clients in Australia and the US for more control over the payments experience.
  • Accept payments via Google Pay and Apple Pay (AU, US and CA); and
  • Request payment details in bulk to speed up time to payment.

Just like Connected Accounting, many Ignition customers managed to eliminate AR altogether by automating payments and making the most of more than 90 new product releases this year alone.

Ignition brings the accounting and professional services community together

This year, Ignition launched an industry-wide #CallForChange movement to reclaim the profitability the accounting profession deserves.

More than 100 accounting firm owners and leaders signed our industry open letter as a commitment to stop underselling and drive the profession forward.

In 2023, both our in-person and virtual events ramped up around the globe. Our Ignitioneers loved meeting with thousands of new and familiar faces at 79 events in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK and South Africa.

Not to mention the many attendees who enjoyed learning from peers and experts at 216 Ignition webinars and online events this year, too.

For the sixth year running, Ignition also celebrated the annual Top 50 Women in AccountingChampion confidence and community were the two themes for the 2023 awards, which saw 940 unique nominations from 14 countries

Women in Accounting winners came from Australia, Canada, Cayman Island, France, New Zealand, Pakistan, United Kingdom, and the United States. Of the Top 50, 40 women were first-time winners, and 10 all-stars had previously featured in the Top 50.

Ignition also cemented its position as a trusted partner in technology and innovation having been recognized this year as an industry leader by G2CapterraGetAppSoftware Advice – and many more.

What’s in store next?

In the 10 years Ignition has been helping accounting and professional services businesses to get paid faster and run smarter businesses, we couldn't be prouder of how far the platform has come.

We’re humbled to end 2023 by being recognized as one of the fastest growing, large established companies in the Financial Review Fast 100 list. This was made possible thanks to the support of our 7,000+ customers and partners globally across Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom and the United States.

Rest assured, we’re working every day to make Ignition even better.

We continue to look at ways to provide greater clarity and automation around your client engagement and agreement process. You’ll start to see more from Ignition to take the burden out of increasing compliance requirements and using our unique data to offer insights and intelligence to help your business grow revenue.

So stay tuned for another exciting year – or 10 – ahead.
