Ignition welcomes Matt Kanas

October 9th, 2019 by Ignition 1 minute read

Today, Ignition is proud to welcome Matt Kanas to our Toronto office as Head of Americas. Hailing from Intuit Canada where he led Developer & Lending Partnerships, Matt brings with him a deep knowledge of the cloud accounting ecosystem, a customer and stakeholder driven mindset, and experience in marketing, BD and product. We’re confident his industry know-how and personality will be an asset as he leads and drives growth throughout Canada and the US.

Matt joins Ignition following our A$26M Series B round, and will be a playmaker as we focus on accelerating our hiring, and establishing deeper relationships with practices in the Americas. We’re currently helping more than 2,500 accounting and bookkeeping firms manage over 125,000 engagements every month. With Matt on board, he’ll be hiring in sales and marketing for North America and will set up the Toronto HQ – to make way for an even larger customer base.

For many in the cloud accounting sphere, Matt Kanas is a household name. At Intuit he helped pioneer the Developer Partnerships, and establish and grow the QuickBooks app ecosystem globally. In that role, he launched first-of-its-kind partnership agreements, app certification programs and spearheaded Canada’s alt-lending strategy. As a result, he quickly grew into a thought leader in developer and accountant communities. Prior to this, Matt led the global marketing partnership with Square for Intuit, and worked across all business units within the company, including TurboTax, Small Business and Accountant Groups, and the Intuit Developer Group.

When he’s not at work, Matt spends his time exploring Toronto and the world with his wife and two boys, brewing his own ales, making his own wine, and smoking meats, cheeses and spices on his big ole smoker. To offset these hobbies, he also thoroughly enjoys lifting heavy things at his gym across the street from his house (if it was any further…there’d be no lifting), and snowboarding the sweet peaks of Collingwood, Ontario.

Welcome to the team, Matt. The pleasure is ours.
